I have been fortunate enough to gain a lot of experience in running workshops for diverse groups of people. In 2012, I was awarded a grant after being selected as one of Theatre Stratford East’s 30 Nigeria Artists. I used this money to set up XII Talents (Twelve Talents) that provided 12 young people, with 12 weeks of workshops and performance opportunities. I worked alongside my dear friends, Veronica Awuzudike and Nina Appiah, who have very powerful creative minds. The program was a great success and led to the young people working with Transport for London on their Road Safety Campaign and to their extravagant performance in Vibe Bar.
I also have experience teaching poetry and performance techniques in High Schools, Universities, Summer Camps, Women’s Shelters and more. To date, I have been able to facilitate workshops in Europe, North America and in Africa.
“12 talents has been the foundation to my confidence as an artist, I met awesome people amazing experience. I’ll never forget Catherine and what she has done through it” – Grace Olubi
” Twelve talents has given me confidence in my poetry. Catherine has opened so many doors for me an allowed me to do something I love, she allowed me to live my passion! She was structured and taught me so much! If I could do what she did and inspire someone like she did for me I will take that opportunity in a second!” – Rayy Powell
